The 2003 1 oz Canadian Maple Leaf Silver Coin Lunar Sheep Privy is a special collectible bullion release produced by the Royal Canadian Mint. Struck from 1 troy ounce (31.1035 grams) of .9999 fine silver, this distinctive coin combines the internationally recognised Canadian Maple Leaf design with a commemorative privy mark celebrating the Year of the Sheep in the Chinese lunar zodiac.

  • Produced by the Royal Canadian Mint
  • Year: 2003
  • Part of the Canadian Silver Maple Leaf Lunar Privy Series

  • Celebrates the Year of the Sheep in the Chinese lunar zodiac
  • CAD $5 legal tender, backed by the Canadian Government

The reverse features Canada's iconic sugar maple leaf, accompanied by a special Sheep Privy Mark representing the eighth animal of the Chinese zodiac. The sheep is traditionally associated with peace, harmony, kindness and prosperity. Unlike the standard Silver Maple Leaf bullion coin, this special edition features a reverse proof finish, creating an attractive contrast between the frosted background and polished design elements.

The obverse displays the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Susanna Blunt, together with the coin's year of issue and CAD $5 denomination. Issued as Canadian legal tender, the coin combines the Royal Canadian Mint's reputation for exceptional silver purity with the additional collectability of its lunar-themed privy mark.
