The 2024 1/2 oz Australian Lunar Year of the Dragon Gold Coin is a premium bullion release from The Perth Mint's acclaimed Australian Lunar Series III. Struck from 1/2 troy ounce of .9999 fine gold, this investment-grade coin celebrates the Year of the Dragon, one of the most revered and auspicious animals in the Chinese lunar zodiac.

Key Features

  • Contains 1/2 troy ounce (15.55g) of .9999 fine gold
  • Produced by The Perth Mint
  • Year: 2024
  • Part of the Australian Lunar Series III
  • Obverse: Queen Elizabeth II Memorial Obverse by Jody Clark
  • Reverse: Chinese Dragon design with "DRAGON 2024" inscription and P125 anniversary mintmark
  • AUD $50 legal tender, backed by the Australian Government
  • Celebrates the Year of the Dragon in the Chinese lunar zodiac
  • Internationally recognised investment-grade gold bullion coin
  • Ideal for both investors and collectors

The reverse features a magnificent Chinese dragon gliding through stylised waves and mist, symbolising power, strength, wisdom, and good fortune. Also incorporated into the design are the Chinese character for "Dragon", the inscription "DRAGON 2024", and The Perth Mint's special "P125" mintmark, commemorating the mint's 125th anniversary.

The obverse displays the Queen Elizabeth II Memorial Obverse, featuring Jody Clark's effigy of Her Late Majesty alongside the years of her reign (1952–2022), making this a significant transitional issue in Australian bullion coinage. Issued as Australian legal tender with a face value of AUD $50, the coin enjoys worldwide recognition and exceptional liquidity.

Combining outstanding purity, exceptional artistry, and strong collector appeal, the 2024 1/2 oz Gold Lunar Dragon is an ideal addition to both precious metals portfolios and lunar coin collections.
