The 2020 2 oz Queen's Beasts White Lion of Mortimer Silver Coin is the eighth release in The Royal Mint's acclaimed Queen's Beasts Collection. Struck from 2 troy ounces of .9999 fine silver, this investment-grade bullion coin celebrates one of the ten heraldic beasts that stood guard during Queen Elizabeth II's coronation in 1953, symbolising the royal ancestry of the British monarchy.

Key Features

  • Contains 2 troy ounces (62.2g) of .9999 fine silver
  • Produced by The Royal Mint
  • Year: 2020
  • Eighth release in The Queen's Beasts Collection
  • Obverse: Queen Elizabeth II by Jody Clark
  • Reverse: White Lion of Mortimer holding the Yorkist shield
  • Features the historic White Rose en Soleil emblem
  • £5 legal tender, backed by the United Kingdom
  • Internationally recognised investment-grade silver bullion coin
  • Highly sought after by investors and collectors alike

The reverse, designed by Jody Clark, features the majestic White Lion of Mortimer holding a shield displaying the White Rose en Soleil—the white rose of the House of York set against a golden sun. The White Lion traces its heritage to King Edward IV through the Mortimer family and symbolises courage, nobility, loyalty, and royal authority. Unlike the Lion of England, the White Lion is depicted without a crown, reflecting its historic heraldic origins.

The obverse bears the official portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, also designed by Jody Clark. Issued as £5 legal tender, the coin is backed by the United Kingdom and is highly regarded by both investors and collectors for its exceptional purity, annual collectability, and outstanding craftsmanship.
